Dallas, Texas —   The Global African Business Association (GABA) had the pleasure of joining the African Think Tank, one of our valued Community Impact Partners, for their inaugural 2024 Gala in Dallas. The evening was a beautiful tribute to African culture, leadership, and the collective impact of community institutions working together to shape a more inclusive and opportunity-filled future.

Held in the heart of Dallas, the Gala brought together leaders from across sectors—education, business, philanthropy, and public service—for a night of celebration and connection. It was an honor for GABA Board President and Co-Founder Akindele Akinyemi to serve as one of the evening’s keynote speakers, offering remarks on the role of institution-building, economic empowerment, and the importance of sustained partnership across the African diaspora.

“It was an inspiring evening,” said Akindele Akinyemi. Co-Founder of the Global African Business Association. “African Think Tank continues to create spaces that honor culture while advancing strategy. Their work is a model of what it means to build with intention, and we were proud to be part of the celebration.”

“The evening was a true celebration of who we are as a people—resilient, visionary, and committed to progress. It was an honor to stand in solidarity with African Think Tank and witness the incredible work they’re doing to uplift communities through culture, advocacy, and connection,” said Rhonna-Rose Akama-Makia, President of The GABA Foundation.

As an organization deeply rooted in the community, GABA recognizes the power of gathering to reflect, affirm, and chart new paths forward. The Gala was a testament to the strength of the African community in North Texas and a reminder of the importance of showing up, not only in moments of planning and action, but in moments of joy.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the African Think Tank team for their continued leadership and for welcoming us into such a meaningful event. The work they’re doing matters—and we are honored to walk alongside them.
